If you Google around the Internet with such search phrase as “spending time with your child,” you will find hundreds of opinions and advices given by experts telling you how important parent-child play and spending time together is for both parties.
As the years go by and children grow up we start to feel more and more guilty about the amount of time that we spend or don’t spend with our kids.
Today’s parents are busier than ever. Both parents – the mother and the father work outside of the home. And not just them – kids are being occupied with activities like sports, language classes, dance classes, music lessons…and others.
Sometimes you come upon something so cool and amazing that you know it is something that will stay with you for a long time either in your home or in your imagination. A little creature called cankerworm has climbed all the way up to the 17th floor to say “Hi”. Krisi and Bobi were terrified, shocked and at the same time intrigued to find who was that.
-Bobiiiiii! Looook, “something”! What is it?!
-Don’t know, Krisi, but I am scared…haven’t seen such a thing never. I think it looks like the one with the shell.
– No, Bobi. That was a snail, remember – the snail after the rain. I think this one is came from the TV. It was in the TV and then jumped out of it because the TV is too small and there is no space for it.
– Oh, yes! You are right. Let’s call mom and tell her that this creature is alive and can jump around and creep and scramble. It may even enter some of her paintings! Let’s warn her!
And – yes! The little thing has jumpred into mom’s painting – it saw an apple! And it doesn’t look so scary now. In fact it is sweet, cute and is smiling at us 🙂
Kids think about magic most of the time. Toddlers are thought to live in a world of their own, a world in which fantasy and reality are undifferentiated. In their mind trees can talk, pigs dance salsa, the favourite train flies, cucumbers, carots and tomatos are a musical band, magicians come by night and dreams come true. Magical object can be seen and found everywhere.
Today Bobi came upon wind driven whirligigs and though they were “magic wand”:
-Look, Krisi, a magic wand! Its wings are spinning and also looks like a flower! They are so many! Like 15? Can they fly?
-Bobi, that is not a magic wand! It is called a whirligig and is so fun! The whirligigs are wind driven! You can take it and run around with it and watch as the whirligig spins wildly with wind velocity! Or – just put it outside in the garden and watch its wings dance in the sweet little breeze! Like the weathercocks in mummy’s painting!
Spring showers that bring May’s blooms can make for some long days inside.
Many parents are keeping kids from much needed exercise and fun when it is raining and wet outside. They believe that playing in the rain is an easy way to catch a cold. Why it is OK to let your kids play in the rain? Because (most) kids adore water! It is a way to have some great fun, to relax and exercise at the same time. Under the rain some cute and sweet characters may appear, like snails and mushrooms. Here are Krisi and Bobi under the rain talking about mushrooms.
Trains are not only traditional vehiculat toys, they are awasome! They move and roll, they make specific noise and smoke out all the time: all these charazteristics make children love them so much. Watching a train moving around on its tracks is amazing, like in a fairy tell. There is a huge number of train cartoons in circulation on TV, youtube, books, magazines and in the kids store. But why not visit the railroad in person? Of course, for 3 and 5 years old boys the best place is at the entertainment park.
Little boys love much two things when it comes to entertainment: the playground and vehicles, especially big ones like tractors. The two little boys Krisi and Bobi often go to the playground and meet other children, play diferrent kind of games, use the swings, the sandstone – it is such fun! A big, bright vehicle with a huge black wheel is in the centre of the park – Krisi’s favourite place to play, he calles it tractor:

Bobi is standing by the window:
– Look, Krisi! Water!
– Yes, Bobi, that is called rain. Looks like my mommy’s painting.
– So, it has eyes?
– Oh, Boobi..No! That’s the snail! The rain is the big blue dots around the snail!
– But what is a snail then?
– Let’s go out after the rain! I will show you what is a snail!
– Rain, rain, go away! Come again another day! Me and Krisi want a snail!
